Anyone run a 255/35/20 instead of a 265/35?

Dump the dealer, and pay much less for tires elsewhere anyway. 20 x 9 is the later year, largest sport wheel on the A8 4.2 and common on the W12. Same size wheel on the S8. All but the S8 are fitted w/ 275/35 20--a factory fitment. Offsets the same. Same core suspension, and on and on. So, the S8 "can't take that much tire" or some such, but the 4.2 can??? Or, it's too heavy (which makes no sense in context actually), yet the W12 is incrementally heavier. Obviously none of that logic hunts. And as I posted earlier, if they actually knew a little more about the car and the tires, they might actually figure out the 265 Yoko's they commonly came with new only varied in the side profile height, not the tread width; effectively those OEM S8 tires basically were 275's masked as 265's with the very slightly shorter sidewall (0.2" in radius).
Only exception here I can think of might be if it is a lease and not your car long term; then they might be saying it needs to stay exactly "stock" on originally fit tire size.

Ok, so I've gotten about 500 miles on these tires and I am very impressed. When I first owned the car I had the turbine 19s with pirelli all season 255s. Comparing these two tires the pirellis sound like bombs going off compared to these. They're ninja quiet, 75 on the highway and the wind noise is overpowering the tire sound. Also these have to be some of the best tires I have ever used in the rain. I nailed a 5 foot long puddle close to 6 inches deep doing about 50 and there was a small tug at the wheel, and huge water cascades on either side. They inspire great confidence in the rain and it's very impressing. I'll check in again in mid-may after my road trip to Arizona.
