Default Anyone's C-pillar trim fading? Soapy culprit?

The chrome around the rear-side quarter-windows is losing its shine. Dealer tells me it's due to soap from drive-thru washes.

Anyone having a similar experience? How do I fix this? The dealer suggested I detail with polish--should I?

Default Common problem with Aluminum (Chrome) trim on A4's & A6's though ..

I have not seen on my A8's.
The problem is associated with car wash use where the trim starts to look streaked and milky.
Polishes do some good but the improvement is limited

Default Doug, how often do you run the car through the car wash?

Is this an 04?

Default It's an 06, and I drive through wash maybe 1x/month. Is this an Audi thing?

With all the talk about Audi's poor service, I can't help but think that I may get better service elsewhere. I did half-expect they'd offer to replace the trim.

Thoughts or experiences with other cars/dealers so I can compare are appreciated.

Default I have NEVER had success with Audi going the "extra mile"!

Acura ALWAYS has and from all early indications, BMW will. From a PR standpoint, Audi sucks and probably always will.

Default I hear you, greenie. With just over a year left on my lease, this

adds to my uncertainty of going with Audi again.

Sorry if I missed it, but I didn't see any posts about why you chose the model BMW you have. Did you consider the 7?

Default Doug, the 7 is just too big for me as would be the A8

if I had stayed with Audi. I dont care for the 5-series and I liked the lok of the new 3-series coupe. When I discovered that it had AWD available, the deal was sealed!

Default The 3 is quite nice. Sat in one at a recent auto show. I expect

you will be quite happy!

As for me, the "what do I get" conundrum will continue to roll in the back of my mind.
