Default Auto Dimming Mirrors

Does anyone have an elegant solution to disable the auto dimming feature either temporarily or permanently?
I'm about to put a decal over the sensor on the mirror face, but that seems un Audi-like.

I think you can press the button to turn it off.
Might have to press/hold, can't recall for sure, but if the light goes out it won't dim IIRC.
May also be an MMI setting.

I believe just setting the interior lighting scheme to "city" will disable the auto-dimming feature. Resetting it to "highway" will make it active again. It took me forever to figure that one out.

Wow, thanks! I am always using "city" lighting scheme and thought autodimming is broken.

Hello all. At first I must appologise to my english.
I have some issue on my A8 D3 2003 car.
I had my car in service (for painting rear bumper).
If I went by car home from service, I saw that my both outer mirrors are black.
Hmm I thought that maybe some error or what ever. So I said it, that next day it will be maybe good.
But it wasn't until today. If I came to my car, the mirrors aren't dark. After start of the engine, they star to change to be dark. But middle mirror which is inside is working very well.
Can you tell me where I should start to search some error?
I looked by VCDS to CAN gateway and saw there error: 01331 Door Control Module; Driver Side (J386)

Or what I should check at first or where I should start?
Thank you for you help.

If that doesn't work, disconnect the battdry for 1 minute, recoonect, start car. All should be well. Had this happen to me. No fault codes, but a "hard reset" took care of it for me.

Wow, cannot wait to try this out. I thought the lighting schemes only affected the interior lights!

This car is smarter than I.
