Battery Charger Hookup

Hi,
we've been discussing this in another thread (MMI Upgrade)but decided to create a separate thread for this matter.
I'm about to upgrade the MMI version of my 2004 D3 A8L from 0600 to 4610 with the use of a battery charger.
The Audi update doc recommends using a battery charger and states: "Remember to use the Battery Energy Manager posts, and don’t charge directly at the battery studs."
Maybe it's just a typo (or bad translation from German), but if you read this you will note the PLURAL - Battery Energy Manager POSTS.
When looking at the battery in the trunk (see pic below), I can only find one post (horizontal silver post marked with the black arrow), which is the connection for the negative source. I would assume to use the positive battery stud (marked with the red arrow) for the positive source, but then again the Audi doc states NOT to use the battery studs...
Any advice ?

Thanks for your help.

And, I experienced the same frustration trying to locate the (non-existent) Positive remote post. There isn't one.
I've used your pictured connections every time I've hooked up the charger.
Go for it!

Very useful post. Thank you. Another nice thing about it is the title. It is definitely searchable, what is essential on a forum without sticky's and lousy search machine. Inspired one time ideas for a title may be fun, but nobody will ever be able to find it.

just successfully upgraded my MMI from 0600 to 4610 using a battery charger hooked up at the locations specified in the pic below.
@Giggity101: btw, my 2004 D3 A8L does not have a sticker on the backside of the positive terminal cover...

Nice post. I'm looking for doing the same thing and was wondering what to do. Thanks for posting for us.
On a similar note, what chargers did everybody use? I'm looking at getting this one:

...will this be good enough? TIA

Not to kill a dead horse again, but... did you upgrade directly from 0600 to 4610, or did you do an intermediate software step?

Alot of people seem to use what I would call a jump start pack or battery maintainers. In my mind a battery charger is something like the Schumacher SE-4020:

I have a similar one that works great.

I would think the one I posted would be okay if people are using those for this. I don't do any electrical work that would justify spending that much for it...unless it is 100% required. Anybody else have a charger going when they did the update?
