Default Battery problems

I have a 03 A8 that I polished and cleaned inside the other day. During this I used a lot of power and the battery meter on the MMI fell to 10%.

I drove a while to try to recharge the battery, but the meter didn't move.

Connected a batterycharger and charged for a few hours. Still no movement on the battery meter.

I also get the message "Emergency management at limit" sometimes when I start the car.

Startet searching the internet for help and found out that others also have experienced this problem. But I don't find any solution to it...

Can anyone help?

Check the water level in the battery. You may need to top up with distilled water. Had similar issue and my water level was low. I topped up and no problem since.

If it's the original battery, watch it, it will need replaced soon. You may start getting MMI gremlin electrical issues starting to creep into everyday operation. The management system starts shuting "things" down in order to conserve energy.

I checked the battery water level and it was fine. To do this I had to loosen the battery poles to get the battery out in the open.

After the water check I mounted the battery again and started the car. Then the battery meter was on 20%....

Stopped the car and started again, 70% !!
Drove a little trip for about 15 mins and the level is no back on 100% and everything seems fine!

Maybe this was the trick... Reset of the car by power down completely?

I also discovered that I had charged the battery the wrong way, I had put the minus pole directly on the battery, and not on the "stick" above the battery as it should be done. Maybe the emergency management unit didn't get readings of the charging because of this?
