Today my battery showed only 1/4 charge.I wonder if I should buy a replacement, as I have no idea how old this one is.I bought the car a year ago.
My question is which battery should I go for, is it easy to do and since I do not own a VCDS can I still do it?What's going to happen if I do not use the VCDS?
2007 S8
Thank you

Re-coding the battery does not appear to be critical. That's what the VCDS cable is used for. Replace the battery before it gets critical and you won't have any hiccups along the way. It seems the car will eventually figure out the battery has been replaced.
I replaced the battery in my A4 last year and the meter was showing about 1/3 capacity remaining. I could see the BEM system had activated once when checking with VCDS.
Get a good battery. A big AGM is likely what is in the car now.
