I'm thinking of installing the puck in my 2005, but I only get a couple choices in terms of phones from my work (so that corporate email works on them)
Blackjack from Samsung (which I have now)
or
Nokia e61
Anybody know if either of these work? I know that the BT in my 2005 X5 doesn't work with the Blackjack, so it makes me think I could be SOL on that one.

...sounds like if it is an earlier version, you can pair to make calls but that is it unless you flash a newer version of software.

link to navplus thread

I don't know what capabilities the puck has.
In my buddy's blackjack I, he couldn't get full functionality on his 2007 A4 with Windows Mobile 5. With Windows Mobile 6 Operating System on his phone he got the caller ID to display in the car and the full phonebook access from the car. WM6 is an unofficial build but it worked like a champ.
If you are talking about the Blackjack II you shouldn't have any trouble.
I have an onstar pre 2005.5 A8 and I am going to retrofit the bluetooth module in place of onstar rather than use the puck.

I have the same model, and wouldn't mind doing that myself. I already have the MMI at the latest software load, so no issues there.
Thanks,
Scott

As kkrull said, the blackjack he is familiar with is running a "cooked" ROM upload for the blackjack. This is not a Samsung build, but rather created by a phone hacker, who probably also inserted a different bluetooth stack in his ROM upgrade, to replace the Samsung version, and thats why its working.
In my opinion, Samsung's bluetooth implementation is terrible on numerous windows mobile devices, so if you are not comfortable with playing with the phone to unlock it and then replacing the ROM with an unofficial one (of course voiding your phone warranty in the process) then you should stick with Nokia, or a non-windows mobile phone. Its not all that difficult to do this, but it's not everyone's cup of tea, and if you brick the phone, you'll be out of luck unless you have insurance for the phone and post-bricking, have it meet some unfortunate physical calamity.

if it means having to do major surgery, then likely I'm not. I thought Nokia's were just as bad as Samsung's when it came to their BT stack tho?
