Default Bluetooth and dual pane security glass

Just follow up on a previously discussed topic. I finally got a RAZR and the bluetooth works great. Always recognized. I have been told that it sounds a bit "tinny". Sounds great on my side. What I'm not sure I understand is why there were comments out there about dual pane reducing reception. Bluetooth only works between the phone and the handsfree kit. I assume the hands free kit has an amped antenna whether or not the phone is hard wired. Either way it works great. Any advice on improving sound quality for the person I'm calling?

I think the comments were in regard to the dual pane glass cutting your cell phone reception, not bluetooth reception. As i understand things, when connected via bluetooth, the car does NOT use the external antennae. so more dense glass would cut cell reception etc. the only way (if i'm correct) that the cell phone uses the external antennae is if connected via the cradle. I think this will change with the newer generation of the bluetooth system coming on the 06 models, but i have not heard if this new system is in place yet. anyone with an 06 with this information?

No cell issues here with dual-pane glass.

Default That's because you drive with the sunroof open at all times. LOL!!

I haven't experienced weak cell phone signals either but ATL is pretty well covered.

The Bluetooth interface does not use the vehicle's antenna... It only allows hands free operation and phonebook access to the phone, but the phone is makeing the actual call.

The cradle adds phone charging and external antenna.

Default mikeymo1741 is absolutely correct. I posted this a while back. The phone reception when not

inserted into the cradle and working via bluetooth mode is compromised versus when connected to the cradle and using the car's external antenna. I have the dual paned glass and having the cradle for my SE637 does make a big difference IMO. But, perhaps, the issue would be the same with the standard glass.

At the end of the day, the phone cradle providing access to the car's antenna does make a big differnce, with or without security glass.

Reception should not be an issue with the security glass since it does not contain metallic film
