hello gents,
im a C6 a6 member, my buddy has a 06 a8L and is in need of a break and rotor job all around.
i have replaced mine in my a6, rears only and i know the calipers need to be open/close via vag com. ive done mine and it was a piece of cake. havent done the fronts, however.
my question is, do you guys here, have a DIY for the break job in ur A8's or u folks just simply take it to the dealer to do the job.
any advice, input would be appreciated it..
again if it was discussed and if there is a thread i apologize, but i havent searched.
Best,
PC

Its the same procedure as the C6. You need Vag-Com to do rears also. The front is the same as many other cars. Just make sure when you buy the front pads they have the sensor in the pad. The brake job is very easy.

Yeah go through MMI Car>Setup>Vehicle jack mode and press on. It stops the air suspension from trying to level the car.
In my case when I have done it without putting it in jack mode, the car drops to the ground and raises when started back up.

Like everyone has said, it's easy if you can vag-com the rear. Like Mishar has posted, the front rotors are gut busters.
I have to do the rears at some point because of the brake dust and I've read you have to vag-com the brake pad thickness in mm. Do you measure the pad and the backing plat or just the pad?

Good point about the wear sensors - be careful the sensors on the new pads have the correct connectors - I have seen several designs fitted to the same pads and you do not want to have top start swapping the plugs around part way through the job.
