It is somewhat confusing to me and a bit frustrating trying to understand the BT telephone/provider/cradle options for my car.
According to AudiUSA, a cradle is now available for the V710 (PN 4F0 051 435 C). However the website printout for the V710 from Audi says that "not all Audi functionality available using BT on this phone." What does that mean?
The Audi phone printout also says that Phone-book download is available by "cradle only (ME)". What does that mean?
Thanks for the help.

I have a Treo 650 connected via BT to my A8 - the only "phonebook" entries I get are the quickdials (called "favorites" in the Treo). There might be some BT phones out there where the car will read out the SIM card phonebook, but you mileage will vary from phone to phone... The cradle basically is an alternative way of hooking up your phone to the car, so the functionality will differ - most likely you'll have more functions via the cradle than via BT, since it's a custom solution for a particular phone model vs. the "generic" BT functions... - but I'm not an expert on that matter...

it is confusing and trying to find information is tough. the recent post on this board about upcoming BT features was helpful n outlining what the system cannot do now. it is my understanding (could be wrong) that even with the cradle one cannot download from the contacts storage of the phone, only the SIM card or favorites (as on the treo, from which i'm typing this) if your phone has BT the only reason to get the cradle is for charging. there is no cradle for the treo. if you find out more detailed info let us know.

Rod, I've got the same car as you 5 weeks ago, Northern blue, cream int, convenience, sirius, 18" 9 spoke, prem. stitching, wood wheel, rear climate, power door assist, winter pkg, and parktronic. I went out and bought the new V710 phone and couldn't copy phonebook over and they told me I needed the cradle pkg as well, how much does AOA want for it?

The part number is 4F0 051 435 C and is either already at dealers or can be ordered with about a 1 week delivery time. She said it is about $300.
However, I still don't know what all this business about "limited Audi functionality" or phonebook download by "cradle only (ME)" means. Does anyone out there know?

So what's the deal with the traditional phone kit? Did Audi incorporate the v710 as a hard wired system similar to the V60? Theoretically, it seems that the cradle could provide charging, connection to the external antenna and pull additional info from the phone like contacts if it was directly supported.
It's pretty silly that the info isn't spelled out online or in the brochures.
