I can't wait to get my hands on the VAG-com software to do a few tweaks...coding transmission for sport mode will be one of them.

Unfortunately I discovered that it has no manual in the glove box and no Nav DVD. It took me a good five minutes just to figure out how to open the gas hatch.

I guess I'll have to call the stealership tomorrow and wrangle that stuff out of them.

Oh, and I paid $22.5k for it. Not too bad of a price.
Nice, what options? Color? Mileage?

I think it has the premium package and the cold weather package, but I don't know for sure. Is there a place where I can find out the features in each package? It's got 44.5k on the clock, and it's Atlas silver metallic.

Does the D3 have the same transmission failure rate as the D2 which haunt every A8 owner?

Jeez I hope not. I've pretty much had it with this POS car after owning it for five months now. Flaky transmission is the last thing I need.

Sorry to hear that. What's going on with your Audi? Are you missing the 740i?

Default 2006 A8L

I too had a 2001 BMW 740IL and i love my '06 A8L. I cannot complain. The BMW had more KICK but i can get some of that in sport mode. I got mine in April with 34k for $30,000. It came fully loaded with 19inch vent seats, etc. I just got done with warranty in September and had them do a few things that i got off Audi Treads. I had someone replace my front brake with me getting the rotors and brake pads (Ceramic Red pads) and got everything done under $300. Front brakes are no different from any other car. Dealership replace front bushing on both sides and gave me both free 35k and 45k service. I put my car in service every chance i could and complain about something i saw on the audi thread. Anyway, good luck and if you need service after your warranty just look on Craigslist for a good mechanic and buy your parts online.

Does running in Sport mode hurt the transmission more than the normal mode?
