Buying an Audi A8. Need Advice
#11
The dealership delivered my '05 A8 L to me today while I was at work. I was very happy about that. I took it for a long excursion down Lake Shore Drive this evening after dinner (I live in Chicago). All I can say is WOW...this car is an incredible drive. My 740i Sport doesn't hold a candle to it, although I miss the punch that the 740i has when taking off.
I can't wait to get my hands on the VAG-com software to do a few tweaks...coding transmission for sport mode will be one of them.
Unfortunately I discovered that it has no manual in the glove box and no Nav DVD. It took me a good five minutes just to figure out how to open the gas hatch.
I guess I'll have to call the stealership tomorrow and wrangle that stuff out of them.
Oh, and I paid $22.5k for it. Not too bad of a price.

2006 A8L
I too had a 2001 BMW 740IL and i love my '06 A8L. I cannot complain. The BMW had more KICK but i can get some of that in sport mode. I got mine in April with 34k for $30,000. It came fully loaded with 19inch vent seats, etc. I just got done with warranty in September and had them do a few things that i got off Audi Treads. I had someone replace my front brake with me getting the rotors and brake pads (Ceramic Red pads) and got everything done under $300. Front brakes are no different from any other car. Dealership replace front bushing on both sides and gave me both free 35k and 45k service. I put my car in service every chance i could and complain about something i saw on the audi thread. Anyway, good luck and if you need service after your warranty just look on Craigslist for a good mechanic and buy your parts online.
