Default Can Sirius be added easily to a 2005 or 2006 A8?

If I find a 2005 or 2006 A8 with either no Satellite radio or with XM, can I convert it to Sirius easily?

I added Sirius to my BMW X5 by ordering the electronics, and then installing it. It was a piece of cake.

I'd like to know if the Audi is as easy or if I'd have to go to the dealer to have them program the MMI to recognize it.

Default this was helpful for his 2006, but...

I am really considering it for a 2005 A8L.

Do we think that the 2005 model is any different?

nonetheless, Plano, thanks for directing me to that thread.

05's should be the same, only the 04's had to be 'upgraded' for the sat radios

Default Re: Can Sirius be added easily to a 2005 or 2006 A8?

As Plano-4.2 has pointed out, I just installed Sirius. The whole process was a lot easier than I had ever hoped. Whatever confusion I suffered was supplied primarily by my local dealer. Just look behind the trunk compartment panel on the driver's side of the car. In my 06, I did not need an additional bracket, but I did need 4 U-nuts or clip nuts or whatever you want to call them. Using the nuts, you can easily attach the control unit to the panel along side the radio module. The cables are very apparent and are taped into some foam padding. Take the loop off the optical cable by releasing two latches and remove the cover from the control unit, and everything just plugs in. I started the car up, and immediately received a Sirius promo on Channel 118 if I remember correctly. Logged onto the Sirus website, and signed up. Service started almost immediately. A picture being worth a lot of words, ask to look inside the trunk panel on a car equipped with satellite at the dealer. No other programming was necessary.
