Default Can you rotate tires from side to side, or only front to rear?

I have my A8L's original wheels, with Goodyear tires, stored away. I'm currently running RS-4 18 inch wheels with contis. But if I trade the car in, I want to stick the originals back on. Here's my dilema. When I removed the wheels from the car, I didn't mark them as to which side of the car they came from. What to do?

Default The only issue that I can see is

if your tires have a specific rotation restriction. You can simply look on the sidewall of the tire to see if there is an arrow with "rotation" next to it. If there isn't one, then they can roll either way and be on either side of the car.

Default I'm in luck, no specific roll direction is shown on the tires.....

A roll direction was the first thing I looked for, but there isn't any specified. I've taken some short trips around town and so far the tires seem fine. The real test will come when I find the right car to buy, and then have to drive a couple of hundred miles to do the deal.

Default Yes you can, as long as they aren't directional.

Older rotation pattern actually used to be the "X"--diagonally across to the other axle.

When they aren't directional, switching them to to other side can sometimes quiet down tread noise too by wearing off the elevated edge you can feel in the direction of travel--that's also how you can actually usually tell which side of a car a tire has been on.
