I got a CD jammed into my player (04/A8, 6-CD player in glovebox)and took it to my dealer today thinking they could get the "extra" CD removed and I'd be back in business. But, no, they can't get the thing unjammed and have left it plugged it but "loose" so that it can be removed, suggesting I take it to a car stereo place for possible solution. My questions are: 1) if I unplug the unit and take it out, will I risk any other system malfunctions due to the two dangling connections in the glovebox; if so, how can I avoid that> 2) has anyone managed to fix this themselves, and what do you think about getting into the top of the unit with a tool and simply snapping or breaking the offending CD(s) and taking them out in pieces?

I have taken mine apart to remove a jammed CD. Power must stay on. Biggest pain is removing it (You need the special "VW keys" available from dealer parts, car stereo places etc.
If you unplug the CD Changer, you cannot play any of the radio bands if I recall correctly unless you use VAG-COM to disable the CD changer input
