Check out the new options on the 2005 A8
Didn't know you could get the paddles, wood steering wheel and wood shift **** on the '05. I might order it for my '04

http://www.autospies.com/images/uploads/medium/f3012f350002.jpg</a

I looked at the '05 before picking up my '04 today. These *BEST* new feature I felt on the new '05' was the price reduction on the '04s. Advance key would be nice but I like the extra cash in my back pocket better.

I'd like the paddle shifters, but it appears to get them I would have to get the wood steering wheel (I don't find them comfortable) and give up my heated steering wheel (which I want to keep).
Also, the audiusa site let you build a 2005 A8, but I didn't see the advanced key or satellite radio listed.

I'm of the same opinion...
I'd love to have the puddle lights, that's a nice touch.
As for the steering wheel, I personally do not like polished wood on steering wheels especially if I have to give up the heated steering wheel feature, but I don't mind the 3-spoke design so much.
Why does Audi use the paddle shift only with the wood steering wheels? Or am I reading the '05 options list wrong?

The paddle shifters are only available on the wood wheel which is a little odd. I ordered mine sight unseen. It does feel a little different at first but I like it now. We'll see how it goes when it gets cold.

Paddle shifts are nifty
I really like the paddle shifters. They let you gear down easier than flippin your turn signal! When you need that extra oomph, a little flip will do it! I also like the wood steering wheel. It drives great and looks like it belongs in the car with all the burly wood. Here's my pic's (although the autospy discussion is hilarious). Paddle shifting is only available with the wood... See PaulW's "Update on Tiptronic Steering Wheel Switches" thread below for possible options without the wood.

I also have the wood steering wheel...
... in the light (birch) shade. The aesthetics are okay-ish, but I take greater issue with the shape of the wheel itself; not the overall and insolent roundness of it, but the way it contours to your hands... or not. My suggestion for anyone ordering it is, if possible, wrap your hands around one at a dealership.
