I've looked at a lot of A8 during my search to buy . Black interiors seem to hold up the best next would be Amaretto, and then Gray. Every Cream / Beige seems to looks horrible. Is there anyway to clean this color without damaging the leather ? Obviously the driver's seat is always the worst. Any tricks for cleaning of maintenance for the lighter colored leather seats ?
Thanks,
Thanks,

In late 2005, I was looking for a '04 lease turn-in to buy. I wanted the exterior to be beige pearl metallic. Interior 1st choice: Amaretto, 2nd choice sand beige. I found a snad beige one and did not want to wait so I bought it. Again, off of a two year lease so it still looked good. I use Griot's Garage leather care & Leather rejuvenator creams as part of my cleaning & maintenance. The rugs are more of a PITA to keep clean.

I agree, Mister's car looked nice, although the carpets do look dingy after a while (not saying his were). Although both of my A8's have all black interiors and they look great, for longevity and overall look the black is perfect, amaretto is nice, but looks bad when worn/dirty. Same thing with the gray that is in S8's it does look pretty cool although I don't like the look of the non perforated seats; but the gray really stretches and looks out of place when it has a lot of miles on the car.

For light-colored interior trim those "magic eraser" type sponges are the greatest thing ever!
I use them just on trim (shoe scuffs, etc.), not on the leather. Haven't needed to. I'd advise testing on an area that's not normally visible first, of course.

Magic Erasers (aka Melamine foam) are good, but they are actually highly abrasive on the micro level. That's how they work, essentially like a very fine sandpaper so not very magic at all.
So be careful with them as you can quickly spoil the surface finish of whatever surface you use them on.
