Very true! In fact, I probably do have enough saved for the 2013 today, I just hate knowing that its around $10K more than the 2012, and I know a year from now it will be $10K less. Of course, the year after that it will drop even more, but I don't want to wait forever. I always have a price in my mind what I'm willing to pay, and I'm pretty patient waiting for the market to get there.

True. AND, every time a big Audi does a full model change like is now coming up in the next 18 months or so with the D4 to D5, it takes another 20% value bath in about the 6 months before and after the new one (D5) shows up. All the dealers know the intro dates so they start freezing up on buying out the used ones at decent prices; the owners tend to turn them in more on lease deals when they are no longer current; the sales guy leaks it and moves them into a newly restyled S7, S6, etc. or just about to be released Q7; everybody can read about the new models at internet speed these days; supply goes up as existing owners try to get out of them who want the latest ride, etc. And to be clear, my rule of thumb is it is a 20% haircut for the model change PLUS the ongoing 20% haircut annually, so the model change window is a biggie for a sober double whammy of value adjustments, a good time for a buyer to ride through if you know it's coming, and a good reason to be firm on lower pricing.

When I look at them, I focus on just the newest ones w/ the facelift (2015+), more for later on as the price shellacking plays out. But there are important steps in the prior years for both the motor (4.2 to 4.0T, or the newer options like V6 TDI) AND the electronics if you look carefully and those are of key value to you. If I remember it right, 2012 vs. 2013 is an important step for those even though the interior and exterior were changing hardly at all.

Next year you will be a year older and you won't ever get that year back. Just thinking.
