So your MMI SW has been updated, twice. Just not by you personally. And if last done in 09/10 will likely have the latest 4610 version.

This makes the "updating the SW is pointless" stance you've taken rather bizarre. From personal experience with my 04, going from 0600 to 4610, there are numerous noticeable improvements, let alone the stuff behind the scenes.
