If exterior manual key doesn't work, can you open the other doors via the key fob or lower the windows via the key fob and reach in and open the door from the interior handle? Suspect you didn't connect the electrical connections correctly when you cleaned up the lock mechanism

Yes, I believe the actuator is mechanically bad because I originally removed it, opened up the inside and sprayed electrical contact cleaner as suggested by someone. As I was putting the actuator back I quickly connected harness to check before putting the door panel back and the actuator did make the clicking noise when I pressed the central locking buttons and fob, but I noticed the mechanism was struggling a bit probably because when I reassembled the actuator it didnt go back together perfectly, maybe 70% good.
So I guess since the assembly is bad and the door is locked , I may have to partially destroy the door panel?

Just wanted to give an update:
I was able to get the door panel partially off despite the door being closed. I then could reach down and manually get the door open.
Then I replaced the actuator with a new one from Amazon ($25 instead of $525 from Audi)
All working good now

For posterity, would you mind putting down the part number that you used?
