Default Drivers door handle

A couple weeks ago the drivers door in my 2005 A8 would not open from the inside normally. I figured out that pulling twice on the handle released the door.
Since I have to pull the door handle, release and pull again to open the drivers door from the inside.
Seems like this is a feature or setting. How is it reset to normal?

Haven't heard of it as such, but maybe tied in to door locking function? Try unlocking doors with the lock switch first, then see if it still takes two pulls. May not even be an Audi I am thinking of though.

Yes, BMW's work that way. I never heard about such setting on A8.

My '04 has been like this for the eleven years I've owned it. This is where "locked". When "opened", via shutting off engine and removing the ignition key, only one pull required. See the owners manual for settings regarding automatic door unlocking.

Yes, if you have the automatic door lock setting is on, this is the normal operation until the ignition is turned off. Sounds like that is not happening in your case.

Yes, here is 3 ways to unlock the doors (based on memory!!! :-) this is assuming you are using keyless push-start... you touch the Stop button to turn off the engine, but the radio continues to place with the MMI screen still up and the doors still locked...
1. Pull the inside door handle to unlock the doors, a 2nd pull on the handle will open the doors
2. Press the door unlock button on the driver door panel to unlock the doors, then pull on the door handle once to open the door
3. Press the Stop button one more time and the radio goes off, MMI screen lowers and doors unlock, the you can pull the handle once to open the door.

Default I will use the Stop button

My 2005 has always opened with one pull after pushing the Engine Stop button. Will try the push button twice to see if this or the door lock button resets this.

Here is the way mine operates. I know exactly because my old E430 and my sisters E350 drive me up the walls because you have to manually unlock the doors if a passenger wants to get out while the car is running.

I use my start/stop button exclusively. With the car running and automatic door lock engaged, you have to pull the inside lever twice to open the door. Once again with the door locks engaged, when I turn my ignition off, the MMI is still active and I have power to the windows. I only have to pull the drivers lever once and the door opens and MMI and accessory power turns off.
