Jprescott, This is not in response to the dual-
pane glass but a response that your changing from MB's. I too am changing from an S430 to the A8L.
I don't know if you have talked to your dealer yet on prices for the A8, but the deal I've got for a 2-1/2 year lease, fully loaded (minus the dual pane glass) is great and then they throw in free service. The benz dealer can't come close to matching the deal. The interior, the comfort of the seats and the ride sold me. The dealer in Ohio that I'm leasing from is the 7th largest dealer in the country for A8's in sales, must be for a reason. Good luck with your purchase or lease.

The security glass winshield I had in my 99D2 sure seemed to get a lot of little sand/debris "nicks" over time. Does both ( security and non-security have the same exterior piece of glass on the windshields?

Same glass is used outside and inside.....
By the way I should have said that the security glazing option should NOT reduce the cell phone reception with the possible exception of really weak signal strength areas.

Even without the dual pane glass, the A8L seems just as quiet as my S430
One key may be the Bose AudioPilot active noise reduction system. Anyway, if you can find or order the car you want with dual pane glass, go for it - but rest assured coming out of an '01 S430 I didn't notice any increase in noise. And everything else on the car is better, and free service, and and and and....you won't regret it!

Fred Baker on Rockside Rd, everytime I'm in their delership there's at least 3-4 A8's on the way out the door. Sunnyside on Pearl Rd also is very competitive. Couldn't deal with the dealer in Willoughby, he wanted to play games with the deal.

Willoughby dealer is going through ownership changes. Have 2 A6s from them (from old/German owner), and they have excellent service.
I have noticed the games from the new ownership on transactions -- numbers don't make sense. I'll be looking at Fred Baker heavily for next Audis.
