Default Emergency brake malfuction/light blinking

Today I got a Park Brake and Brake error on dash and E brake is blinking(along with costant beep while driving). I ran VCDS and I got the fault listed below.

I went to measure blocks-08 and operated the E brake. It shows the right side not moving. I am thinking the motor might just be shot and just replace it. Tired of beeping/constant beep already and I only drove to work 15 mins.

Any suggestions? This is the second scan. Forgot to save the codes and just cleared them. The first one came back. The second code was a mechnical malfuction of the parking brake.

Check up the brake light switch, common failure point on the d3. part is dirty cheap and a pretty easy swap. It can cause all kinds of funky behavior.

Is the brake light switch inside the car that the brake petal hits? Also, do you think that will cause the right brake motor not to move?

Brake switch is just above the brake pedal but not really easy accessible. You have to remove drivers knees airbag. Besides that I don't think it is a culprit, although I agree that it can cause all kinds of problems, not even related to brakes at the first sight.

To be optimistic you should disconnect right brake motor harness, clean and lubricate it with some DeoxIT®. Less optimistic option is to take motor apart and clean it and the worst would be to replace it.

Mine had right E-brake faultcode about a jammed e-brake motor or something that way, took it apart, and lubricated, pretty easy, under 1h job.

Your is giving a fault code about an electical circuit malfunction, so do as mishar pointed out, don't atleast start by replacing the motor, unless you are a millionaire.

Sometime we all wish we was millionaire's. Lol.

I will work on it tonight and hope that clears things up. I will post results. I have to pick up some lubricant, already have brake clean...

Default If you're lucky....

I had the exact same error code, but in my case it was a a seized actuator. I tried cleaning the contacts and also lubing the mechanism but no luck. On closer inspection the plastic casing had cracked which over time had let water in and caused the bearings in the mechanism to seize.

Only option was to buy a new actuator which at $400 was kind of annoying....especially as I never use the parking the brake! Anyway a quick swap out and it was back to normal.

In the meantime you can stop the infernal beeping by removing all 4 fuses for the parking brake system (ecu, switch, L and R actuators) with no ill effects.

I am getting the exact same code. Same problem. For now pulled the fuses. Cleaned the electrical connector. Can feel motor activate but still get code. Next option is to pull the motor apart and lubricate. Not once have I ever used the ebrake. Hoping that lubrication fixes the problem. Don't want to have to buy a new ebrake motor.

I didnt get a chance to work on the car last night. I already ordered the ebrake w/ caliper before anyone posted to my thread. It was $404 and should be here Saturday. I will do the work than. I will clean and lubricate and if that dont work, I will have the part on hand to swap out.
