Need to put one into my 2007 S8. Feel naked driving without it. Had an 8500 windshield detector on my Volvo XC90 V8 for years. Saved me plenty of times. If you have an 8500ci installed, with diffusers, can you please put up some pics of where you put the display and of the installation? I am thinking inside the ashtray, under the climate control. I can just close the door to conceal it.

Open to other suggestions!

If put the display in open view so you can hit the mute button. Especially if you cheap out and get the 8500 vs the much better 9500.

It's not a matter of cheap but of function vs usefulness. 9500 comes with features,(speed camera database, gps, etc) that do not justify the extra $1100 in expense. That $$ is going to go to get my ECU tuned by Unitronic. The mute is on the head unit that will be at arms reach. Been using Escort detectors since 1988 beginning with my Acura Integra, when I used to drive Sunset Blvd. between the 405 and PCH, with great success.

Besides, just need to know when smokey is looking at me...

I agree, but with that thing going off all the time without the GPS lockout it would be so annoying. My GF's 8500x works great, but after getting back into my car with the silent 9500 it is so much nicer. (quiet)

But please let me know how the install goes. One member did a whole thread of his installation of his. I am thinking of getting the 9500ci, as my father wants a 9500ix, but I said just take mine and I'll get the integrated system
