I have always wondered if you could use this piece of trim to house a set of LED daytime running lights. You could drill individual holes and use individual LED's or cut out a strip in the middle and fix one of the dozens of LED strips that are available - ebay in particular. Come on someone more dextrous than me!
You don't have to take the bumper off at all, and you don't have to remove the wheel liner. You just slide off the chrome trim and then you have access to take off the amber light which also slides out. Takes a little playing around but it can be done.
DTHREE - I always looked into putting in the DRL's from the S6 in that slot but measuring it out, it wouldn't fit and making it look right would take A LOT of cosmetic work. I'm sure there's a way to do it though.
And thanks for the kind words Atomic definitely not regretting going with the pre-facelift!

I am about to instal euro moldings on my S8. I have not yet looked or thought about removing the original molding. You say you have to slide the chrome trim off, is it just a matter of prying it out with a plastic trim tool? Once it is out does the molding pry out easily as well. Any pics of the installation? Thanks in advanced
I bought these from you..Right? I meant to said a PM to say thank you! I quickly scanned threw those directions and nothing popped out at me on how to remove them. Reading a post above leads me to believe they slide out from the front...
No, not from me my friend. I got the files above from a8parts.uk, a really great forum based (drumroll) in the UK. They are a huge source of info on stuff we don't even have here, like a diesel A8 with a manual transmission! Bunch of nice, polite guys.
on my car, the previous owner just painted the corner lamps with body paint.
I didn't even realize they were covered until I saw some slight light leaking at the edge.
