Default Gas gauge

When I am told to "refuel" by my car and I immediately go to the gas station, I fill the gas tank with 20.4 gallons. My question is: Does that mean that the car has three gallons in reserve as the 2004 Audi A8L have 23 gallon fuel tank?

Default Its brain looks at how you've been driving prior to the warning to give you time to

find gas/petrol before you run out. So if you drive gentle, it will warn with less in the tank. Math/maths is math/maths, so if you put 20.4 gal in then you have about 2 gal in the tank and a bit in the pump pick-up, filter and lines to the injectors.

Default Per manual, reserve area is 9 liters/2.4 gallons

Light is also triggered based on fuel level. The miles to empty calculation is what is recent MPG dependent.

Like you, my experience is it has probably 3 gallons to go in real life. I usually just go until miles to go display is close to 0 if I am in town and have time to fill up whenever.
