Green Down Light - Air Suspension
Can anyone properly explain the operation and indication of the green car symbol with the down arrow? When the car is powered on, engine off, the green light is on then goes out after a few seconds. Is this normal?

I think you are talking about there air suspension light. Depending on what the suspension was set, the car is trying to go up or down. It us very normal unless it is constantly tying to go up or down.

Well, I guess if you read the manual it's all explained there. The green down suspension light is supposed to come on as an idication of low height when the suspension is set to dynamic, it well then go out shortly. Cars with sport suspension will not see this.

Ah yes. The manual. First day I had my S8 I spent about 5 hours sitting in the car reading the manual. Still took me forever to figure out the naming your contacts in the mmi.

Green down arrow indicates lowered ride height. Either because suspension is in dynamic mode or its auto lowered after driving at 80+ mph for a couple of minutes, or just loaded up with people/weight and the suspension is pumping back up.
If the light comes on each time you turn the car on and the suspension is not in dynamic mode it means the car is riding lower than it should. This could indicate a small leak in the system. If it goes off after a minute or two the compressor is able to overcome the leak but it will be running more than it should which wears it out quicker.
