FWIW though maybe an aside to main thread content: #2 is mistaken in terminology and description. SIDE marker lights are what are on the SIDES. They turn on with either parking light or headlight position. Required IN USA since mid 70's after a long history of T Bone crashes where cars could not be seen pulling out of side streets and driveways and such. Then in turn, they are red on the rear. Fronts must be amber and rears MUST be red by law to distinguish the two ends at distance. Rears are integrated with tail lights on D3, not a separate component. In front they are the lights in the trim strip separate from headlights. No such front one in the trim strip in Euro models IIRC.

DLR's? Maybe you mean DRL's--daytime running lights? Of course D3's have them in North America. Canada and USA are in turn different in some ways w/ full time headlight on rules. On W12/S8, done with LED's on a dedicated basis in inner part of headlight. First car in world that used LED's for DRL's, which are now common place. On others done by switching/dimming a main bulb IIRC.
