I hope someone can point me towards the right direction to solve my aircon blower problem.
Once in a while the blower would not run after I start my S8 (RHD with solar roof). The climate control buttons work, but no air comes out of the vents. It usually recovers after 10-15 minutes of driving, only for the malfunction to return several days later.
I have already replaced the air blower resistor module, and tried to look for the solar relay switch under the dash below the steering wheel (right side) but none of the relays seems to be linked to the blower.
Can anyone advise on the likely problems, and where the solar roof blower relay is located?

As stated above, the brushes on the blower motors have a finite life. With the solar sunroof, the blower runs even more so the brushes wear out sooner.
VCDS scan will confirm the problem. It will probably suggest that you Replace the blower motor.
Without a diagnostic scan, you are wasting time and money.

Does this point to replacing the blower motor?
Tks!

Solar roof
FWIW, I just helped/confirmed w/ yet another old AW'er that his blower motor also crapped out, and indeed he had the solar roof too. Seeming to be a pretty consistent theme. New fan (plus a refrigerant recharge) via an indy shop in his case, and all reported good.

I have the new motor. Yet to put it in as it involves more dismantling than I am comfortable to DIY! Will be sending it to a workshop with the proper tools to do the replacement.
PS I Have the solar roof too.

I've repaired dozens of blower motors and radiator fans over the years. The failure mode I've observed time and time again is corrosion around the brushes preventing the springs from doing their job. Mine just went out tonight and I don't have a solar roof. I'm hoping my brushes will be salvageable. I'll report my findings.
