Default Help with Car Audio upgrade

I own a 2005 A8 I want to remove the bose speakers/ subwoofer
and replace with all MB Quarts speakers/ amps/ subwoofers
but retain the factory head unit display and MMI control features
Can this be done? I was told it has a fiber optic interface and can not be done Help!

The fiber optic loop is on the input side, not the speaker outs. I'm sure it can be done, but since the amplification is at each speaker, it will probably be pretty complicated.

Am I correct in thinking that the Bose Surround Sound will not be functioning with the new set up? A number of owners have opined that their $6K B&O systems are not appreciably better (except for CD play) than the Bose Surround that is standard in these cars...how do you know that all the time and money you are contemplating putting into your system will result in a better sounding system?

This is an old post but since I am mulling over sound upgrade for my D3 A8, I would like to share a useful link.

Open your wallet for that one....

I have the Bose setup in my A8, and while it's nothing amazing, it's good enough that I don't feel the need to go burn $10k making it better.....

I suppose if I actually spent $100k for my car I might feel differently, but......

To each their own. I don't tell others how to spend their money and I don't want someone telling me how to spend mine unless I ask. That said, I really like the music from under the hood.

+1

To improve "music" I would spend that money on a supercharger:

Then we might as well upgrade our car. I also have a boss system but it lacks a bit of "sound quality" compared to "after market ones"

No highs, no lows, it's Bose. Rectified the low part but can live with the lack of highs because of the prohibitive cost of replacing all the drivers and amps.
