Default HELP My A8 D3 hood will not latch completely

I popped it open this morning and now it won't close. I've tried moving the release handle back and forth and the hood locks move freely when pushed, but they won't engage to completely close the hood. I guess this is better than having the hood closed and unable to open, but every post on the AW forum seems to be about closed hoods. Mine won't close completely...any ideas???

Thanks in advance!

Are the rubber hood bumpers too high?

You’ve not left a tool, or a lid from something in there have you?

Everything worked last week, but not today. The bumpers don't seem to be the issue as I can get the hood flush with the chassis, the locks just aren't engaging. And no, there's nothing else blocking the hood from getting flush with the locks.

What were you working on to have it opened?

Squirting a bit of WD 40 into the two latches and junction box wont hurt. Maybe something's not releasing all the way.

I had the hood open to clean the engine bay...that's all. Nothing else. Why would the hood locks not engage when the hoods open?

Agree with this. Try lubing both latches, and the cables, including inside the cable junction box.

No, everything moves freely and when the hood release lever is pulled, the cable in both locks moves. The hood locks are not engaging for reason. And I can't find a single post here on AW that refers to the same problem.

Default Rubber mallet fix

Yup, the mechanism was stuck and a rubber mallet released it...sometimes lubrication needs a little help!

Thanks for all of the suggestions!
