Default Could not agree more....

My 05 developed a noise up front that got worse in a short time, it sounded just like the wheel bearings I had changed many times in the past on other makes, just recently the Jeep overland, and before that the Caddy DTS, my Audi sounded just the same, but when I put it on my buddy's lift the sound was gone, of course I thought well there's no load so no noise, but the other vehicles made the bearing noise while in the air, and I definitely thought it was not the Pirelli P6's, as they only had 7000-8000 miles on them and had already been rotated, BUT it was the tires, I rotated them and the noise moved to the back, and it was no where as loud in the rear, even passenger heard nothing in the rear, Now 4000+/- miles the noise in showing it's ugly self in the front again, it's time for new wheels and tires....

Differential wise, right now they have brand new black ones on sale for $400.

Yep, Pirelli P6's are known howlers w/ even some wear. Had those on my A6 at one point and night and day when I got rid of them; as bad as an aggressive snow tire noise wise and that is a car no where near as quiet as the D3.

Here's my rear wheel bearing saga from a few months ago:

I did buy a cheap Harbor Freight press as I figured I would use it in the future. I will use it soon as I'm finally going to replace the upper CONtrol arm bushings. They arrived yesterday. The squeaks turned into a "clunk" recently.
