Default How loud is your Adaptive Air Suspension?

I have been driving an '07 A8 SWB for about a year now and I have been taking note of the compressor noise volume lately. It seems excessively loud, especially after a cold start and while I am rolling out of my driveway or through my neighborhood.

I mentioned this to my dealership when I had it in for recent repairs and they said it checks out fine and it's just noticeable now because of the colder weather.

I'd like to know if others are noticing the volume of their compressors too? It can be quite distracting wondering if your suspension is about to crap out on you in the near future...

Haven't heard a peep from mine in warm or cold weather.

Default I hear it sometimes after I park

Every once in a while if I come screaming into my garage off a raod trip and the suspension hasn't readjusted when I pull inot the garage, I can hear it jacking the car back up to regular height. I never hear it when I am driving.

Default Rarely hear it, but I keep it in dynamic all the time!

I think what you may be hearing is the parking brake adjust itself, that's pretty scary if you've never heard it. I don't really hear any hissing from the ar suspension adjustment, but it does level itself on it's own every now and then, but is quiet.

the only sound I hear from mine is a hiss when I get out and the car is lowering itself. I don't think I've ever heard the compressor. I do occasionally hear the parking brake self adjust which does make a strange sound. I seem to hear that about once a week. Might that be what you're hearing?

I hear a grinding noise by the driver's side rear tire every now and then when I park. Dealer heard it too and said it was a normal sound of the air suspension. It sounds terrible!

I'm pretty sure that what you're hearing is the parking brake self-adjusting, not the air suspension. The manual indicates that the brake will go through this process from time to time.

Default Dealer doesn't know beans. It is normal, but not the air suspension, it's the automatic...

...parking brake calibration mechanism checking and adjusting the pad gap on the disk brakes. This should happen approximately each 600 mile interval.

The sound you hear occurs after engine has been turned off and eminates from rear brakes---Sounds like a series of high-pitch grinds, yes?
