37 and I bought my S8 a couple months ago

I could have afforded one younger, but I wasn't ready for a big sedan.
I was driving a CTS-V for 10mths before, utter piece of crap that car was
Owned an A4 Avant Ti edition with 6mt and the 3.2. Loved that car for over 6 years I bought CPO

41, I suspect if you go asking the same question in the d4 area the ages will be somewhat different.

Lol, yup. Coming from the Lexus forums... our 2nd Gen GS used to have an average age of 40's until they got to be 10-15 year old cars. Now the new posts are like "Hey guys, I'm 16 and just got my first Lexus. Anybody know how to install LED strips in the steering wheelz?!? KTHXBYE" Of course that being said... glad to see the devaluation on the D3's finally put one within my price range

Jibbel, you're right. It's sad to see how much they really have depreciated. Still not as bad as an S class or 7 Series though. The 8's seem to be slightly higher in the asking price department these days, even with far more miles.

Default This thread again? Most Elvis' left the building years ago now,

and the few of us left to mop the floors have aged some. Newer members could be their kids... But, fresh blood is always good.

Just remember that the parts prices are a reflection of the sticker price. And the phony parts with low prices won't be a bargain when they catastrophically fail.

I think part of that is because the D3 aged better than the E65 BMW or the W220 Mercedes

If I were buying again, the D3 wins by a country mile.
W220 second minus the scary ABC suspension
E65 is a Bangle, scary 1st gen iDrive, unreliable, nightmare of a car you can get for nothing these days

Default More W12 posters now too

When mine was newer it was very lonely. A lot more folks post on it now.

Likewise on the D4 board, the W12/6.3 posts cumulatively amount to almost zero so far. The asking price on some early D4 W12's (only 3 years old) with no obvious listing issues and still under 4/50 warranty have dropped to as low as 40-45% of original sticker already. Same thing will develop there, though the D4 board is really sleepy. Like 20-30 the thread volume max. that this board used to get at about this same relative stage in D3's life.
