I purchased ipod AMI unit if I take out cd changer, will it plug right in with the same wires?

Why take out the CD changer that's a waste. Plug it in addition to the CD player. All it takes is a splitter which is included.

I bought my unit on ebay for 125$ did not come with any wires and i dont know the part number for the wires?

oh??? Is that option able to adapt to a 04 A8?
How easy is the install?
Does it need an MMI update?

not sure if you can do it on an 04 but i dont see why not.

Can I ask where you purchased one with all the doohickies required? I have an 05 and would love to have both, cd and ipod.

Does it use the fiber-optic system of the A8, or is it wires only. Wires only = no workie.

Yes you can use the same wires that plug into the cd player. Your MMI should reconize it. You will need the AMI cord that plugs into the ipod though. You have to get the right cord for your year or the MMI will not see that the Ipod is hooked up. You can get the cord off ebay also. I think all the ipod cords have the same part number except for the last letter. DO NOT get the one with the letter K at the end. I did that mistake thinking they was all the same and had to order another cord.

I have done my install. I left the CD player not hooked up till I feel like getting a splitter. Its(CD player) not required unless you start getting MMI updates but than still you can reverse it and hook up the cd player again.

Also I have a 04 with MMI update 3360.
