Default Just Scanned - Need Help With Codes

Hey everyone. Sorry but this will probably get pretty lengthy so please bare with me. Any help would be great. Decided to scan my car today because the passive entry range has gotten shorter. I found a bit more than I would have hoped... Car is a 2005 A8 Base w/ premium package.

__________________________________________________ ____________

00716 - Air recirculation Flap Positioning Motor (V113)
-My AC doesn't feel quite as cold as my other car but that could be due to age. I did take the cabin filter out and when I turn the car on the flaps move down when I push the button, and then backup when I push it again. After that, it doesn't move at all. Is it done for? Or do I have the ability to clean the servo motor? Cleared code and it came back right away.

16346 - Control Module - ROM Error
-Instument cluster? The cluster works like normal all the time. Cleared code and it came back right away.

01176 - Key
008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
-What can I do about this? Can this happen if I have another set of keys from a different car with me?

02003 - Driver Identification Control Module (J589)
004 - No Signal/Communication
-Probably related to the passive entry range? Cleared it and came back.

02104 - Light Detection Sensor (G399)
010 - Open or Short to Plus
-Again, not sure. Cleared it and it came back. My auto-on/headlights are working OK.

02130 - Interior Door Lighting
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit
This one is a bit odd. The light bar in the door does not work or respond to changing the ambient lighting. However, it does light up when the door is opened. Is there more than one connection to this light bar?

Default Here's my 2 cents:

The faults sound 'similar' to me. I'm assuming you've already cleared ALL the codes and re-scanned. Go to the 'applications' page on VCDS and run a 'gateway installed' check, and a 'can bus diagnosis'. Those names are from memory but you'll see them. Sound like it could be something in there to me, i.e. your 'optical loop'.

Also, how is your battery, both in the car and the key? I'm assuming the passive entry is just that, passive, and the key is the active part....

The far more knowledgeable than me guys will chime in on here for you, but those are my first thoughts. Good luck, and keep us posted.!

You can't see that flap, but you can live without it. Alternative is very labor intensive, I believe starting with dashboard out.

I don't know what to do, except do nothing since it works.

Have you checked your key battery?

I believe this one is for auto dimming mirrors. Go to that module and program it without auto dimming mirrors.

It is controlled by a door module and it is receiving two signals. One for door opened and one for ambient light. Could be bad contact. I wouldn't bother digging into door for that.

All in all, your car is very healthy. Best is to do nothing.

Thanks. I'll run those other VCDS tests later today. The car battery is still fairly new. I did replace the battery in the key fob to try and correct the passive entry range but it did not work. I also forgot to mention the passive entry button on the drivers door handle does not work. Rear door button on that side works OK.

Mishar - I believe the recirculation flap in question is right by the cabin air filter. It is on the VW Phaetons anyways... After running the output test for HVAC and v113 the flaps do not respond at all. I think the little motor is shot, or needs to be re-adapted if possible. I guess I can live with slightly warmer AC . I'm curious to how much it costs but I'm unable to find a part number on this computer. I'll have to look at ETKA when I get home.

That looks like a low cost assembly when purchased as a service part. Just thinking about how to access it gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Yep. They put it first at the assembly line and than build everything else around it.

That's what I used to say about the steering rack on my long-gone '87 5000CS quattro. R&R'ing that seemed more difficult than removing the transmission to get at the failed throwout bearing.

Well I guess that solves that problem. That motor is way to far in there to even want to think about changing it.

I got the same code. Maybe hire Raquel and go in Fantastic Voyage style?
