Hello,
I am looking into buying a used 2006 or 2007 A8.
I know there are certain differences between the cars and believe I know about them (like the horsepower thing, DID screen, etc.)
What I'm asking is, would you rather get an 2006 one with lower miles (45,000k) or 2007 (with like 60-65k) for around the same price (Audi certified, off course)?? Are the differences so great that I should rather get a 2007 with higher miles on it or just stick to the lower miles 2006?
Also, does the car come with remote window opener (meaning the key..), iPod pluggin, possibly remote starter?
Does the dealer automatically update MMI/Navigation to the latest possible versions?
Thank you in advance.
TM

If it were me, I'd get the '07 assuming you're looking at V8s and not W12s. The FSI V8 has a timing chain rather than a timing belt which means that's an additional maintenance item you don't have to worry about. I've seen people quote $1700-2000 on the timing belt. Granted, most people don't keep cars long enough to have to worry about having it done more than once.

Agreed w/ prior post on FSI = no timing belt.
2007's also have rear camera. Other than that pretty similar between 2006 and 2007. Audi also included maintenance for 4/50 in 2006. You had to buy it for a 2007.
If you will have the car a long time, argues probably for FSI. If shorter time, maybe the lower mileage 2006's. By 2006 the bugs were well shaken out.
MMI updates are not an automatic. You need to either have issues with it, or be savvy on the right code phrases to use w/ service to get the updates. Only done during initial warranty period. You can buy the update CD's from dealer parts counter as a DIY, but read board very carefully before doing so.
iTunes comes via AMI if you do it factory style. That was not standard in the timeframe you are looking at. It is retrofitable (I did it); pricy but nice.
Remotes are integrated with the key. As a CPO, they should give you all keys--two full remote type, one valet and one wallet plastic one.
Audi doesn't do remote start.
