Default MAF sensor torx size?

Diddling with some other stuff and thought I'd clean the sensor. Searched forum for torx size, found post t-20. Have a set and my t-20 doesn't fit. Maybe what I found was for another model or year.

Mine is 05 A8. Is t-20 the right size?

Unless this is a blind screw, I can't see why you don't just try different sizes until one fits. Even if it was blind, you can still do it by feel.

It is a tamper proof torx but with only 5 points instead of 6.

Default Think slightly bigger picture

Remove the piece of tube the actual sensor sits in within the inlet hose. You can spray the cleaner in through that. You only need standard screwdrivers for that.

I just do what dave suggests now--spray it in. In past I have been able to remove screws either inelegantly with vice grips by grabbing around outer lip of screw head, or by a little set of "tamper proof" screw removal tools I bought that are supposedly for electricians and phone guys. You run into similar screws in things like phone demarc. (entry) boxes on the phone company side of the box where their service cable comes in.

As it's not a tool used often I'd recommend Harbor Freight. I bought a set of "security bits" from them 8 years ago and they have been used maybe a dozen times. They work great with light use.

I have never seen that kind of bit before. What made them use that? The regular six sided security one wasn't weird enough for them?

Five point are Torx-Plus. They are capable of higher torque as the "points" are larger. Tamper -resistant Torx-Plus bits are protected in the USA, Canada, Europe and other countries. Bits sold by others are dealt with swiftly with Legal Action. Harbor Freight won't be selling these anytime soon.

The Chinese can copy a Chevrolet so thoroughly that the body panels are interchangeable and their government will protect them. No guarantees on quality.
