I searched for anything similar, but in vain, so here goes.
This morning on my way to work, within a minute of starting up the car and driving, the MMI screen disappeared back into the dash with no input from me. So I pressed the volume button to resume listening to the satellite radio, and the screen came back up. Before another minute could pass, it did the same thing again. This routine repeated itself until I could bear it no longer, and I let the bugger stay there.
Does anyone know what might be causing this, after 3 trouble-free years?

Hard to say without scanning the MMI system. It will most likely have a fault. If it's doing the same thing over and over again consistently, it will be easy to diagnose with a Ring Break diagnosis, but that's using the program loaded to a VAS tester that the dealerships use. If the issue occurs while the Ring Break diagnosis is performed, it will locate the module that's most likely to be the cause.
