I've just picked up my A8L 4.2TDI and have been setting up the MMI. Well, trying to... I don't know what I've done but now the screen won't pop up. It's working perfectly well, the radio is playing and I can see the screen is on through the gap but the damn thing won't come up when I press the button.
I suspect (and hope!) that I've pressed the buttons in some way that's made this happen, I'd be really grateful if someone with more than my 5 mins experience can tell me what to press to undo this *****-up.
Thanks,
Skaj

Welcome!
I suppose you turned engine off and on? Only way to keep it down when starting engine is to press Mute button before you turn the engine off, but in that case your radio wont work. You may try with MMI reset. Push simultaneously Telephone + Main **** + upper right choice button next to the main button.

Any chance you ran battery down some? Power mngt system closes screen as an early sacrificed powered item. Thus, drive car for a while and see if it re-emerges.

Thank you both very much for your suggestions. As it turns out I got in the car this morning, hit the start button and up popped the screen as normal. I am none the wiser but at least I'm not forking out to get it fixed on day 2 of owning the car.
Appreciate your replies though, thank you.

So is there a way to keep it from popping in and out all the time? As long as the radio is working, which I could control though the steering wheel would great reduce wear and tear for the plastic gear set.
