did you not state that you were using the second from last SW update before you edited your post today, that {2nd from last} would be 4140, now Mishar I may be wrong, but I know one can go from xxxx to 4610, buy not sure on the 0600, as when I did my 04 I went from 2750 to 3360, now on my 05 I completely flashed from Euro 2120 iirc to US 4610, but I swear the OP said 2nd from last, which is 4140 and is not a repair kit and therefore will not allow from 0600 forward.

Are you saying you had seen 4610 on your MMI, it does not make since, what did you misread ?
also the three red "X" boxes are they the same as the three pictures you attached, as there are only three pics in your post, and the last one shows you at 0600 sw level.
ALSO did you update the NAV before MMI, make sure that your Navigation software is at least v.5 or higher. Don't do the MMI update if your navi version is lower. Update the navi first.

In your original mail you didn't say which update you are trying to use, you have three broken pictures and one bad link. You didn't say if anything was done prior to that update attempt, like replacing some module that might have active Component Protection or wrong software on it... So help us to help you, if we can.

Now you have a 2004 A8 and therefore do not have bluetooth, So that is not the
Problem, are you 100% sure on the 4610, as your picture shows the message of MMI (V1.1.a.11.7.18.f.2). Use other CD, which leads to it not being a 4610 update set

Since you are going to 4.6.10 you don't need the 3.3.60 update. The 3.3.60 is only required when updating to 4.4.10.

Updating the phone went fine, Handyvorb2 showed OK after running the first CD; but for some reason, when running the second CD, it gives me an error saying: "Incomplete metadata for EEPROM-Update of MMI (V1.1.a.11.7.18.f.2). Use other CD". WTF? What am I missing here?

I was getting with 3.3.60. That message gets kicked out when the checksum does not add up and it thinks that you are using the wrong update. It prevents the update from running in order not to brick the MMI.

I updated directly from 2.7.50 to 4.6.10. I have the 3.3.60 CD but could not use it because I was getting error. It's a long story but in short there is an error in line of code on some 06 and 07 cars giving wrong model of the MMI H/U. The checksum then prevents the update to 3.3.60. or 4.1.40. (You get error "Uncomplete Metadata for EEPROM-Update for MMI" in german when trying to update).
So I did search high and low and found some posts from Audi master technicians stating that the newest NA update 4.6.10 did fix all of the problems with 4.1.40 and that the 3.3.60 is not needed anymore.
However be aware that the 4.6.10 comes with two CD's. The first one is for checking and if needed repairing of the Bluetooth hands free module. You need to run the CD-1 first.
If you don't, and the SW and FW versions of the module are mismatched you will fry the BT module. The description is in the TSB. Pretty simple procedure:

Check the FW and SW of the phone preparation module.
Hold down SETUP and RETURN until you get to the service screen. Scroll down and click on HANDYVORB2. Check the HW Index and the SW Index.
If you have HW Index H16 with SW Index 0700 you need to first run FW update of the phone preparation module.
Once the FW is updated run the CD-1 again to update the SW of the phone prep module.
The update is on the Disk-1 of the 4610 update set (P/N 4F0 998
961).

Next make sure that your Navigation software is at least v.5 or higher. Don't do the MMI update if your navi version is lower. Update the navi first. (You can get copy of 2010 year update on the net).

there must be something else going on with his MMI.
when we tried updating it he didnt have Handyvorb2 anywhere,
and i updated my A8 (same year as Max's and it updated with no problems)
couple weeks earlier so not sure what is going on with it.

there must be something else going on with his MMI.
when we tried updating it he didnt have Handyvorb2 anywhere,
and i updated my A8 (same year as Max's and it updated with no problems)
couple weeks earlier so not sure what is going on with it.

Have you tried upgrading to 3360?

i just pulled this for Max on Dec 29th i think.
i haven't had a chance to look at all of the errors but it seems
like there are a lot!
