Default Modifying my new A8: Rear spoiler or not ? Lower car or not?

I am doing some modifications on my new A8 sport pkg. when it arrives- i.e. window tint, 20" Oz wheels, painted license plate filler, etc,. I was thinking of adding a spoiler (see ppi-design from link below) and lowering my car ( per Der Kimbo). What do you think? Any input appreciated. Also, I'm hesitant to put 21" wheels on the car secondary to Illinois roads and perhaps a making it a rough ride.<ul><li><a href="http://www.fourtitude.com/gallery/gallery2.php?mode=album&amp;album=/Audi/A8-S8-V8%20(D1,%20D2%20and%20D3)/A8%20-%20D3/Aftermarket/PPI%20Design#">http://www.fourtitude.com/gallery/gallery2.php?mode=album&amp;album=/Audi/A8-S8-V8%20(D

Default Hey Doc, all the mods sound great, but the spoiler looks very "aftermarket"

I am usually a fan of the "wedge" type spoilers and had an AC schnitzer one on my 545i but for some reason I feel this PPI design one looks a little too "tacked on" on an A8. Have you considered an S8 trunk lid? it has a very subtle integrated lip. Your OZ's will be amazing, and I think your are wise to stick to 20's in Chicago. You should definately go with the Vag-Com lowering. I did 15mm in the front and 10mm in the back and it changes the stance in a very perceptible way. Not slammed mind you but more aggressive without compromising the ride quality significantly.

Default Yeah, the Abt, PPI spoilers are kinda strange how they wrap around like that.

I'm starting to wonder how much S8 parts will cost, since they look so good. Although I do like the MTM lip spoiler.

By the way, what are you a doc of? I myself am a doc as well... surgery resident to be exact.

Nischal, Your car looks better every time I see it. Nice work. Do they not require front plates in your state? I received 2 tickets in Chicago before I added my front plate last fall. How can I get my car lowered here in Chicago? Will a dealer do it? The spoiler was my son's idea but I am still looking for something more subtle or likely, none at all..

Default Guess I'll join the club, Emergency Medicine in Florida. .

Florida does not require front plates, so I'm off the hook. As for getting your car lowered I'm pretty sure that a dealer won't do it. I have heard of one very mod friendly dealer in NJ that does it but I wouldn't count on it. Your best bet is to find somebody local with a HEX-CAN version of the Vag-Com interface from Ross-tech and go through the procedure. Der Kimbo has excellent instructions on here. I would be happy to walk you through it and for that matter loan you my interface cable if you want. Just let me know. If you are inclined you may want to go ahead and get the cable yourself from Ross-Tech.com for about $350. It has other uses that you may find worthwhile. I have disabled the repetitive seatbelt chime which was the bane of my existence! There are other tweaks also from what I hear. I'd be curious on what the S8 trunk lid costs, I like the look. Oh, BTW thanks for the compliments.

Default Docs everywhere! Yeah, VAG-COM lowering isn't that hard actually...

If you can get your hands on the cable and the software, its actually pretty straightforward... if you follow the directions exactly. I'm lowered to where I want to be. Just need to get wheels that stick out a little more, cause now the wheels look like they're turtling back into the car.
