Default More interesting MMI happenings

See my post below. After detail the MMI was shutting off and popping back to a closed postition. This morning it seemed to work fine. But... after shutting the car off after about ten minutes the MMI screen pops open and goes to the lawyer screen. If I shut off with the radio on, it also starts playing. It seems to repeat this with the car parked and locked with the MMI coming out to play then closing, and repeating. The battery level is fine. Any ideas? Everything seems to work fine when I am driving. Gremlins? Time to sell the car and get something new? 2004 A8L 68,000 trouble free (until now?) miles Serial 8170

If it's not a moisture problem, then I know this may sound trevial, but alot of times when this occurs, one of the "function" buttons may be "stuck" in a "down" position either by a grain of dust/salt/etc. or just juxtiposed in away that an "edge" of the button was pushed slightly off center causing it to "stick" in a down position causing the MMI to go bonkers. Look very careful and or "feel" around the MMI pad to see if one of the funtion keys is slightly indented.

This has occasionally happened to me in my "early" ownership days of my '04 and I've never had a "lick" of MMI problems other than that, plus I'm sure they have "flashed" the MMI SW a couple times while in for normal MA, but then again I have a great Service advisor and department at Nalley Audi in North Atlanta area.

Default Agreed--check buttons. Then try VAG-COM code scan perhaps

for possible electronics issues

Thanks, I'll try checking the buttons in the morning.

Mine did the same thing. It turned out that the "car" button was stuck. I jiggled the button and haven't had the problem again.

Still misbehaving. I think I will have to take it to the dealer. No buttons seem to be stuck. The MMI pops up then pops back down periodically. If I did not mute the radio it plays also.

Default Be sure you have "giggled" & "pushed" all those buttons as it is not always visually apparent...

that they are stuck on a corner.

I had the exact same problem with mine. They replaced the entire button panel and everything worked fine after that... until the smart sound or whatever it's called started misbehaving. At that point, they replaced my entire MMI with the newest version. It works great now
