If you can measure broken part from your mom's Lexus I can tell if this would work. Simple drawing would help.

Awesome
This is great. Although I was able to fix mine with the roller from my D2 which was being junked - I would like to purchase a couple of these as I know I will be visiting the hat rest area again in the future. Let me know how we could order a couple. Thanks for doing the work on these!
Here they are:
All aluminum and, compared to original, indestructible. It takes about 30 minutes to change them, but it is back there in quite confined space. Tools needed: small cordless drill, 1/8" drill bit, small Philips screw driver, pop rivet tool, assistant to press the button, bring bear and wipe sweat from your forehead and some patience.
If you are interested PM me.

After applying I raised and lowered the shade a few times and after that it was fairly silent.

Thanks everyone for all the advise and to Mishar for making spare parts. I now have the old shade available if anyone is interested. With Mishar's parts, it's as good as new. I opted for a new shade as the shop who broke it paid for it ($750 for shade at audiowholesaleparts and $400 for installation). It's black and from my 2004 A8L.
Sincerely,
Kenneth
