How would you pin point a vac leak, even with using Vag-com?

The software will actually say which general area has a leak based on sensor values. Then it's time for good old fashioned automotive diagnosis and repair. Visual inspections, tugging on lines looking for crack and if all else fails, you disconnect a line and pump in air and listen for the leak. You will be able to find it that way.

I went through this saga last year with mine trying to figure out how the system worked and what was broken. When the car starts, both pumps run and then after 30 seconds the driver's side pump shuts off and will only turn on past 2,000 or 3,000 rpm. That's why the car shuts off after 30 seconds and why people can give it gas and the problem disappears.
