Default Nav issue repaired....good story...

No return call from my Audi Advocate yet so I called my sales guy at the dealership. He agreed with the forum---pressing Nav, then the Map button should bring up the location of the car on the map and it should change as the car moves. He told me he'd look at an 05 which just arrived today and see what it did. About 15 minutes later, he was at my front door with the new 05 and said it worked as it should. We jumped in my car and he first programmed the nav. system to take me to the local airport. We drove less than a mile with the nav audio system telling me what to do correctly. We stopped, got out of the program, and then simply pressed Nav and the Map button. Now it works as it should. Apparently the nav system needed to be used just a little so that it could monitor the actual movement of the car. Great help from the local dealership---I hope all of you are as lucky.

Nav has to 'learn' and trans too! Is your break-in period going OK?

Default No problems with break-in period....

I'll get to the 1000 mile mark sometime next week. Now that the nav issue is solved, there are no other problems. I LOVE this car. What a difference from the A6 4.2 I had. I hear/read that the new A6 closes the gap but I'll be in an A8 for a long time.

Default Interesting. I wonder what/why it needs to "learn"?

The only thing I can think of off the top of my head is if it correlates the relationship between ABS sensor rotation pulses and GPS coordinates to auto-learn the rolling diameter. I'd be surprised though.

Sounds more to me like an obscure bug. Glad it's sorted out either way though!
