Considering whether to update the DVD for my navigation, 2008 S8. The current disk has Version 2007 / 2008 and 4E0 919 884 AQ printed on the disk. Also has NAVTEQ B.V. DVD Part No. T1000-13040 printed around the top edge. Pretty sure this is the disk that came with the car new.

So ther than updated maps will a new disk give me other features?

Will it give me a 3D map view?

Updated searches?

Also, would I lose anything I currently have?

3D maps comes with the MMI software update CDs, not Map DVDs.

Sorry, didn't include that I have a North America car.

I am pretty sure my MMI software is the most current. Is there an update that will give me 3D viewing of the maps?

Legal copies of the NAV DVD can be purchased here or from a dealer for around $100.

3D map upgrade is available here.
Kind of expensive though.

Damn!
I must have gotten a deal last year, or I'm old and forget - probably the latter.

I'm not sure the D4 even has a DVD since it gets Google Maps via T-Mo skynet...

Latest European version has 3D maps. North American not. Good knows why. I've tried 5*** and it works in North America, but map contents can't be controlled properly. In 3D there are not street names.
