I own an 05 A8L with the dension 500 installed for about a year now,
lately i have many issues with the MMI, many times i will get into the car and the mmi will not work at all (no nav, music, or cruise control) if i press any of the buttons on the right of the **** wheel the screen will go up i will see the mmi logo and then... nothing, the screen will stay up with a black screen, sometimes after awhile it will start to work again like nothing happened.

Second to that in the past week even when the mmi works none of my speakers works beside the left front twitter.

I'm sorry for the long description but please, i need help my car is outside the warranty period

well, since the component protection seems activated, I would suggest the following:

1. make sure none of the cables are loose going to the dension.
2. update your dension to the latest firmware.
3. bypass the dension and see if the problem persists.

then it's a trip to the dealer for you...component protection has to be removed by the dealer.

Why it kicked in is hard to say. it's possible the amp module is defective, but not sure. I know some amps have had to be replaced in the past.

you didn't try to do an MMI update, did you? this usually happens during one of those if you start from too far back and try to skip...
