Default New 2006 A8 - dash and rear bumper modifications ?

Hello,

I will be taking delivery in a few days of a 2006 SWB A8.

I am interested in a leather wrapped dashboard for the car, and my dealer has quoted me $2000 for the part, which presumes it is drop-in compatible with the dash on a US SWB model.

I am curious, though - I will already have a dashboard ... is it possible to just get the leather for it and have them install just the wrap ? I know, for instance, that if you damage a panel of leather on one of the seats that it is possible to replace just that panel. Is the same true for the leather wrapping of the dash ? I would prefer not to spend $2000 on a whole new dashboard when I already have one ...

My second question concerns the rear bumper. I like integrated exhausts very much and would like to get the w12 rear lower bumper piece and exhaust tips. From pictures, it looks like the v8 and w12 rears are exactly the same EXCEPT for the very lowest piece of rear molding, on the bottom. If this is the case, I would like to just buy that single piece of rear molding, swap it with the v8 piece, and swap my round v8 exhaust tips for the integrated w12 tips.

Any comments on this ? Is it as simple as simply swapping the small lower rear molding piece and the exhaust tips, or am I opening up a much larger can of worms here ?

All comments and suggestions appreciated.

Default You will need a new dash...

The airbag has a separate panel for the leather dash where as the vinyl version breaks through the material. So there is no way to get around that one.

For the W12 rear, the bumper cover comes with the exhaust tips (neither are avail separately). You will have to purchase the entire back cover as the lower portion is plastic welded on and is not avail separately. Just cut the tips off your V8 and leave some clearance room. (the W12 tips do not connect to the exhaust)

Thanks.

Any idea what that w12 rear bumper cover costs ? Sounds expensive.

Also, since the removed parts will be brand new, what are the chances of selling the v8 dash and rear bumper cover ? What avenue would I go through, and what kind of price (50% off ?) should I expect for them ?

Thanks again.

Default Rear bumper is around $1000 - $1200 retail at the dealer...

I have a good source and pricing for them. Email me if you want to get one.

There probably is not a market for the other parts but you can always try since you'll have them.

Can you cancel the order, if it was custom-ordered and order the leather replacement. I did that even though I lost the 2005 A8L paddle levers behind the steering wheel, because I wanted a heated wheel with the seats, front and back.

Seeing that i see that you know your cars thats why im asking you.

Hi!K?mbo!

I have one additional question about the reab bumper. I have ordered W12 reab bumper. On ETKA it was supposed to come with exhaust tips, but my dealer told me that these ones are PLASTIC ones and for metal one I have to purchase W12 back exhaust for another 1000 USD...Is it true? because it is better to spend 1000USD on performance exhaust thatn on ****ty AUDI one.

Thanx in advance
