Default New A8 Dealer Advice

Looking to buy a new A8 but there don't seem to be many around me (Kentucky). How practical is it for me to reach a deal with a dealer in say Chicago and have them truck it (<400 miles). Is that impractical?

Default Not impractical at all...

Just make sure they don't scalp you on shipping? What are the specs on the car you want?

Default Service??

If you have to go out of town, make sure you realize the inconvenience factor. Make sure your local Audi dealer, if you have one, will work well with a car they didn't sell.

Dealers have to service a car no matter where it was purchased---however, sometimes "attitude" comes into play and you won't get the best service schedule.

I bought 75 miles out of town...not a huge deal to get serviced, but if your car visits the dealer alot, it becomes a pain.

Default Re: Service??

I don't get that totally. Dealers get money for MA service from AudiAG, no matter if they sold the original car on not. Isn't the real profit at a dealership in the "shop", whether they "charge" AudiAG or the customer outright? And I do understand that AudiAG only pays the dealer the "number of labor hours" they establish as how long it should take to complete, so a dealer can get hurt if the tech spends all day on a problem and can only bill AudiAG 2 hours.

Now, I understand if the dealer doesn't have an A8 trained techy. That's another issue.
