Has anyone seen this color in person? Would you reccomend it over Phantom?

I saw an S8 on the dealer lot last week with it - looks kindof maroon color in the sunlight, more black in the shadows. Personally, I like the flat or Phantom better.

It may look black in the shade but is looks maroon in the sunlight. Check it out and make sure you like it before you commit.

Not my taste at all. They had an A8L in Black Cherry at the Chicago Auto Show, and I thought it looked pretty bad.

Almost ordered it, but got Phantom Black instead. After I got my car in late Oct. I saw a Cherry Black A8 at the dealer and agree with other posts. It looks nearly black except in full light where it looks much too maroon for me. Actually, the picture of the Euro RS6 that one of the members posted on this site convinced me that in bright light it is maroon.

and the reviews are mixed. I like it (or I wouldn't have ordered it) and my wife thinks it's the best looking car I've ever had. In general, however, I would say that most people don't rave over it. It looks black most of the time, but is definitely dark red in bright sunlight and a little purple under some types of artificial light. Phantom Black is elegant, isn't such a "love it or hate it" choice, and will almost certainly be easier to sell. If I may be so bold, I would suggest you consider the Cardamom Beige interior. It isn't as hard to keep clean as Linen and the black accents (IP, carpet) will look as though they were made to go with the exterior.
